Firstly, a barrage of over-the-top over the top violence! Skin flies off with ease as the vampire faux cannibal girl rips it off with her teeth like a fruit roll-up, the result, the skull flying straight into another frankengirl and somehow, and do not think here it is a dangerous habit, managed to eat her face off, blood by the bucket loads! The excess silly gore is followed up by some questionable blood claw vaginal insertion, the faces on both vampiress and frankengirl are priceless, and this is all in the first 4 minutes of the film!
I was howling with laughter, until the opening titles ended and the film began proper. Long story short, the name of the film is a totally misleading one, there are two fights, the aforementioned one and the ridiculous, almost boring end movie sequence, although props to the sumo from hell and his gun helmet! The plot as it plods in between these two half decent scenes, follows an innocent school boy and his Vampire/human-soon to be frankengirl love triangle, and the vignettes of bizarre characters that populate the High School where 99% of the film takes place.
There is a lot of send-up; the film parodies traditional Japan, the school system, subjugation and niche groups, such as the Gyaru; over-done to the extreme here with a rapper and even African tribesman rip-off all chanting Barack Obama sayings. To gothic-lolita crowd and the unforgettable, surely mentally handicapped, zombified wrist cutter rally, that regularly holds competitions and rehearsals!
Between these vignettes are what can only be described as a bad trip, the awful effects and should-be-illegal soundtrack make you wish you were on narcotics, is the film more enjoyable this way, someone please let me know.
Some important key characters emerge, the doc Frankenstein is the principal of the school who wears kabuki gear, for the sole reason that it is 'wacky' and his assistant the over-sexed serial killer school nurse, helps him main innocents in a montage of murder that is brighter than anything Agento's Suspiria couls produce, to make parts for his super taboo creation; "every father with a daughter dreams of this" he announces as her cuts his offspring up.
This all sounds great on paper, but the end result is quite awful and poorly conceived, even for a film of this calibre. Watch the first five minutes and give the rest a miss.

I so thoroughly disagree.
As a matter of fact, I had to coax my wife through the first five minutes ("Hang in there, it gets more funny after this!"), but the rest of the movie was a blast.
In my opinion this is the best film yet from the Japanese splattergore camp of Iguchi and Nishimura. It certainly has been the most viewed one in my household.
Meh. This movie had it's really funny parts. However, MUTANT GIRLS SQUAD has pretty much ruined the genre for me. I loved TOKYO GORE POLICE as it was more horror than comedy, but these comedic renditions of what has been pretty much the same plot of TGP are boring and use way too many familiar gimmicks.
agreed on almost all fronts. Didn't loathe VG vs FG, but didn't enjoy it to nearly the degree of TGP either I think Nishimura and Iguchi have both demonstrated that they're better when they're trying to be funny (and they're awesome people). I can only hope that they phase out the exhausting, poorly choreographed fights and never ending gore and continue to develop on their own brand of slapstick humor. The scene at the end of Sukeban Boy where the character is getting shot by a rattling gun and it cuts to two naked P.A.s in diapers throwing red paint at the victim in place of squibs is still one of the funniest sight gags I've ever seen and I'm fucking stealing that idea for a future project.

I enjoyed Machine Girl so much. I really resented low budget movies until I saw Machine Girl that changed my mind.
Tokyo Gore Police was alright but too slow and boring.

OK confession time! It seems the opinions on this film hinge on the viewings of the other Iguchi and Nishimura movies, of which I have not seen! I started with VGvFG and will move on the other ones, then, I may be able to appreciate VGvFG more, but at the moment I still think it was poorly paced and better than it could have been.
You might be right. In "Machine Girl" the ultra-gore was impressive because fake as it was, we'd never seen anything quite like it before.
Then "Tokyo Gore Police" surprised by being even more deranged and over the top. It also managed to be quite disturbing in a few places, giving the film a bit of a true horror edge.
Next was "Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl", and now we were already totally prepared for the ultra-gory first five minutes. The big surprise here was that the film suddenly turned into a high school romance spoof, complete with silly songs juxtaposed over the gore! I think everyone was more shocked by the Ganguro Girls jokes instead of the blood. Still, I think this was the most enjoyable film of this studio yet because it was truly funny.
But frankly I do not see where to go to from here. Maybe a straight sequel to "Tokyo Gore Police" (I wanna know what happens next!) but after that... this particular type of product may have reached the end of its life-cycle.
I gotta side with Ard on this one, personally I love this film because of its kooky bubblegum aesthetic which the previous films from these guys had yet to exploit. I fell in love with MACHINE GIRL right off the bat & couldn't wait to see TOKYO GORE POLICE. When I did however, the serious tone of it all left me a little cold (though I defintely appreciated it's screwed up sci-fi fetish vision). VGVFG pulled things right back to where they should be heading - ridiculously OTT violence, cute girls in school uniforms and cheesy pop songs. I have ROBOGEISHA sitting on my to watch pile and must get to it asap, but for the time being at least I'm still very much on board the Nishimura/Iguchi/Tomomatsu love train.
