People always say that the best definition of good comedy is that it makes one laugh. It’s a pretty poor definition of course. Whether we laugh or cry, get an erection or feel horrified isn’t a moral indicator at all. Perhaps being encouraged to think deeply about why we laugh is. Chapelle’s show will never really be gone as long as there are DVD’s.
Even if Lorne Michaels SNL survives the departure of Tina Fey the only other truly great sketch comedy on TV these days just can’t hold a candle to old episodes of Chapelle. Why is that? When everybody else is moving mainstream, calculating demographic concerns and playing to them Chapelle’s sketches reveal a shoot from the hip attitude and, at their best, a timelessness. Chapelle was a comedian for a thinking audience, a choosy audience, not content to simply flip through what was free. They chose to have the channels they had and looked for what was good on those channels. My favorite Chapelle moment was his sketch about the black racist blind man who, while never seen under his KKK hood, became the darling of the white power movement. When at the end of the sketch he reveals his face to the crowd they (and he) find out he’s black. Heads in the audience literally explode trying to take in the significance and watching the white power types court their leader along the way was priceless
But the stuff here is mostly for completists but shows Chapelle in fine form. In one sketch spoofing posthumous music releases Dave offers up a Tupac song that makes one wonder if Tupac shouldn’t start haunting those in charge of his post-death legacy. I don’t know if the sketch was written prior to the much publicized rift Chapelle had with Viacom but sadly, despite some standout moments most of this stuff is not all that memorable and one could possibly see some haunting in Viacom’s future if they continue to unearth Chapelle’s wisely buried second rate stuff. You do get some extras Bonus unaired sketches, Bonus performances by John Legend and Dead Prez, Commentary by co-stars Charlie Murphy and Donnell Rawlings, "The Fabulous Making of Chapelle's Show" featurette, Deleted scenes and Blooper reel

It's worth the price just for the final sketch about fame (the one with the Cribs spoof). Although, I'm already sick of people saying "thats the most balla ass shit you can do to [whatever]".
BYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!
