Daniel Espinosa's Snabba Cash (Easy Money) is a film that made careers. The Swedish crime thriller launched Espinosa himself to the top of Hollywood's most-wanted list, the result being the upcoming Safe House. And star Joel Kinnaman? He went on to the US version of The Killing, support roles in The Darkest Hour, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Safe House and will be playing Lancelot in David Dobkin's upcoming big budget Hollywood offering Arthur And Lancelot.
So, yes, Snabba Cash is rather a big deal. It is also, sadly, a film that very few in North America have had the chance to see, The Weinstein Company having bought the rights years ago and done nothing with it since. Well, maybe this will give them some incentive. Because, you see, Snabba Cash was based on the first book of a trilogy and the second is about to hit screens, too.

Espinosa serves as an exec producer of this second offering with Babak Najafi taking over directing duties. Somehow I think Hollywood is going to be knocking on his door very, very soon as well.JW, the promising business student who became an organized coke smuggler, is serving hard time in prison and is struggling to get back to an honest life. But a man from his past - the former hitman Mrado Slovovic - changes everything. Jorge returns to Sweden to pull off a giant coke deal. But the deal fails terribly and now he has to flee the country with both the police and the Serbian mafia on his tail. Mahmud owes the Serbian boss, Radovan a large sum of money. When he can't pay off his debt he is left with only one choice - to find and kill Jorge.

Nice trailer but the film itself..? The first one wasn´t that impressive(even though that was a step in the right direction)....when will we see a real gangster film from sweden..?
Was a big fan of this film when I caught it at TIFF a few years back. But I'd be lying if I didn't say that I do not really remember much about it, other than its brightly lit cold style. Plot is a complete blank, and this trailer didn't refresh my brain of the happenings in the first one...
Loved the first one. Basically JW is a from a poor background, but passes himself as one of the wealthy elite, attending a top university to study economics and rubbing shoulders with all the financial sector snobs. He then gets himself in trouble with a local gang and offers to be their accountant and launder their money through the stock market. He gets rich, gets the lifestyle he's always wanted, but then a truckload of shit hits an industrial powered fan. Awesome film - cannot wait to see part 2.
Rodney Dangerfield is rolling in his grave! No respect!
