Anyone who watches the mysterious video will die... Fans of the original Japanese RING (RINGU) series of films from the late 1990s may have a good reason to rejoice, because a new movie in the series is due to be released soon, and a teaser has become available now.

Synopsis: 13 years after the original RING movie, Sadako returns to the big screen in 3D! Akane is a high school teacher who hears a rumor from her students that there is actual footage on the Internet of someone's suicide. The footage is said to drive anyone who sees it to also commit suicide. Akane does not believe the rumor at first, but when one of her female students dies after viewing the footage, she and her boyfriend Takanori are fatefully drawn into the horror that has been created by the man who appears in the suicide footage, Kashiwada. Kashiwada's intention is to create chaos in the world by bringing back Sadako and the power of her curse. Now Akane has to fight against Sadako and Kashiwada to save the lives of herself and Takanori.

SADAKO 3D is directed by Tsutomu Hanabusa (THE HANDSOME SUIT), and based on the novel by Kôji Suzuki who penned wrote the original RINGU novels. It stars Satomi Ishihara, Kôji Seto and Yusuke Yamamoto, and will be released in Japan in May.

looks like a load of unoriginal crap. sheesh. why dont they stop this nonsense and just release the original on Bluray?

So they're going to take everything that was subtle and creepy about the original and take a giant three dimensional crap on it.

I expect better from the Japanese. It looks so cheesy and obnoxious I almost expect the Pang Bros to have directed it.

"I expect better from the Japanese"

Maybe you should write to Japan and let them know.

*sigh* all over the world they keep making versions of, sequels to, and spinoffs from The Ring, but we'll never get one entirely faithful adaptation of the first book, let alone all three (with the third turning everything on its head) - anyone who likes any of the movies and hasn't read the novels absolutely should

There have been plenty of remakes in the Japanese film industry and it's not impossible that somebody will decide to remake or reboot THE RING franchise one of these years. Of course whether or not they'll decide to go back to the source material or just base it on the existing films is anybody's guess.
