Back in October, Twitch was the first to bring word that director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo was exiting the Relativity backed remake of The Crow - likely to take over the Highlander reboot - at which point we also brought word that Before The Fall director F Javier Gutierrez was the likely candidate to replace him.
Things have been quiet on the Crow front since as Relativity and The Weinstein Company engaged in a legal stare down over the title, which Bob and Harv claimed they still had rights to. Well, that claim has now been settled without going to court, meaning things can move forward once again and Variety are reporting that Gutierrez has indeed been locked in to direct the picture.
According to Variety there is also a new writer being brought in with Gutierrez to work from a script by Jesse Wigutow, who has written nothing that you are likely to have seen. Wigutow follows efforts by Nick Cave and Alex Tse.
