Australian horror is certainly finding its footing and becoming something of a resurgence after films like Wolf Creek took center stage, this innovative new slasher with a really strong cast (including guest appearance by John Jarratt of Wolf Creek killer fame) is certainly no exception.

Cyan Films recently announced the cast of new horror film 100 BLOODY ACRES, the feature film debut from film-making brothers Colin and Cameron Cairnes, who won first place with the film script in the horror section of the prestigious Slamdance Screenwriting Competition.

100 BLOODY ACRES commenced principal photography in South Australia on Monday 16th January.

Headlining the cast is Damon Herriman in his first leading feature role. Damon's career includes working with high profile directors such as Clint Eastwood (J.Edgar) Steven Soderbergh (The Last Time I Saw Michael Greg) David Mamet (Red Belt) and Rowan Woods (Winged Creatures).

Starring alongside Damon is the distinctive Angus Sampson whose work includes box office horror hit Insidious directed by James Wan and Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are.

100 BLOODY ACRES is the story of brothers Reg and Lindsay Morgan's struggling organic blood and bone fertiliser business. To fill a big order they need a fresh supply of their 'secret' ingredient to process through the meat-grinder.  By chance Reg comes across two guys and a girl with a broken-down vehicle on their way to a music festival. But Reg and Lindsay are not crazy -- they're just a small business.

100 BLOODY ACRES is produced with investment from Screen Australia, South Australian Film Corporation, Film Victoria and the MIFF (Melbourne International Film Festival) Premiere Fund.

Australian distributor is Hopscotch Films and international sales are handled by The Works International.

100 BLOODY ACRES will world premiere at the 2012 Melbourne International Film Festival.
