A new trailer arrived late yesterday for upcoming Joe Carnahan directed, Liam Neeson starring action-thriller The Grey, one that takes a very surprising approach to marketing the film. It's not the footage itself, that all looks fabulous and is very well presented. It's that every quote and every credit in the piece is presented with Twitter tags. It's the first time I've ever seen someone take this approach and I'm curious to see if it actually has an effect.
In THE GREY, Liam Neeson leads an unruly group of oil-rig roughnecks when their plane crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. Battling mortal injuries and merciless weather, the survivors have only a few days to escape the icy elements - and a vicious pack of rogue wolves on the hunt - before their time runs out.

Wow. That's incredibly daring & presumptuous of @carnojoe to have the cast and credits all presented as Twitter IDs and Hashtags. I like where they are coming from - obviously inspired by the comments from BNAT attendees, but I'm not sure it's a sign of things to come.
Big fan of tight action pictures and Liam Neeson has a sinecure in middle-aged badass roles in Hollywood these days and really has held that since Rob Roy and was 'rediscovered' in "Taken". In the 70s they used to have lots of action movies for adults starring people like William Holden and Charles Bronson. Now it's all Neeson. In the 80s it was Harrison Ford. Bruce Willis is a step down from Neeson.
The concept reminds me of "The Edge", the one with Anthony Hopkins/Alec Baldwin vs a big bad bear.
