The [REC] film series has been one of the great success stories of Spanish horror film in the past few years. The directors, Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza, decided each to direct the last two in the series solo, with Plaza taking on the 'prequel'. A teaser from September already gave clues as to a bit of a departure from the mode of the first two films, especially in the use of found footage style cinematography. But as the trailer will show, that doesn't look to be a bad thing. While Balaguero and Plaza's work together is outstanding, it's also nice to see each putting their own distinctive mark on the series. The current trailer does not have English subtitles, but I think you'll get the gist of it. And you'll put it on repeat. You can watch it on the RTVE website.

I'm a huge fan of the series but...I just don't know about this one....I didn't quite get the same sensation I did with the original two, including their respective trailers.
Looks like a blast.
Now can we please stop making zombie movies for about a decade or so?
i agree with you Mazinger Z. im also a big fan of the 2 first films, which i think are among the best horror films in recent years ( 99 procent of horror these days are soft shit ) but somehow i also think this trailer seems abit more mainstream and just not gritty enough..the chainsaw clip does keep my hopes up though..also dont wanna judge this to much before i see it..lets hope it will give something fresh to the series and still keep that hardcore underground flavour from the first 2 films..i do think the wedding theme is a brilliant idea, to make the zombies family members gives it a new dimension and could be good for the story....cant wait to see the final product..any release dates yet ?
I agree that the trailers to this third entry don't feel right compared to the other two films in the series, which each had terrific trailers. What worries me the most is hearing that there's humor in this new one. If there's one thing this series does NOT need is humor. Screw that. This isn't supposed to be Evil Dead II or Army of Darkness. The first two were masterpieces of pure horror. Why not make a third one sticking with that tone? Oh well, I guess I'm just not the biggest fan of horror comedies and I hope the humor vibe I keep reading and hearing about this one is blown out of proportion. One more thing, why do some people refer to these films as Zombie films? They're demonic possession films, NOT about zombies.
I can tell that none of the posters here are Spanish, because the first two films actually had quite a bit of humor, perhaps it doesn't translate well in subtitles or even for Spanish speakers from other countries. But I can assure you that the Spaniards have a knack for dry humor much like the Brits and it may have been lost in the translation for English-speakers.
This film feels a little different because it's more out in the open and not all shots are hand-held POV cams. But to be fair, it's a prequel so it should be a little different. As a Spaniard who absolutely loved the first 2 films, I'm going to reserve judgment until after I see it.
