While the idea of Stallone's geriatric action movie THE EXPENDABLES was fantastic on paper, it didn't really come off as well as everyone had hoped. That said, they made enough cash to warrant a second outing, although this time Stallone hands directorial duties over to Simon West, of CON AIR and TOMB RAIDER fame.
Many of the usual suspects have returned, including Jet Li - long rumoured to have passed on the project - as well as Jason Statham, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Round 2 also sees Chuck Norris and Jean Claude Van Damme finally throwing their hats into the ring - and by the looks of it - everyone wants a piece of the action this time.
The first teaser trailer is up at Apple for you to check out, and it does give us a glimpse of the cast in action - although Li's profile clip looks like a grab from the first film. What we should make of that is anybody's guess right now.
THE EXPENDABLES 2 opens in the US on 17 August 2012.

Li's profile clip is a grab from the first clip because Li won't be filming his scenes before January, when the shoot relocates to China.
