by Al Young, November 2, 2011 2:47 PM

The official site for Studio 4C animated film Berserk has been updated with a full length trailer of the first installment entitled Berserk Golden Age Arc I: Egg of the Supreme Ruler.  Based on Kentaro Miura's popular manga, the film adaptation will tell the story of the Golden Age arc (refer to wikipedia here for the plot details) in a three-part feature film series.  In the animation, it has a unique blend of hand-drawn and digital techniques to faithfully reproduce the medieval world of this dark fantasy.

The theatrical release date in Japan is on February 4th.  You'll find the trailer in HD embedded below.

why do they keep adapting just this part of the manga? all the coolest shit is in the rest of it!

I loved the series. Does this mean the movie will finally provide a conclusion to the shit storm that is BERZERK's final episodes?

...and by series I mean the animated series. Never read the manga. But that cliffhanger ending in the anime needs to be tied up desperately.

This should be called BERZERK REBUILD haha

Seems more likely than people actually being able to spell the name of the series.

So, english isn't my first language. Sue me, ass hat.

Don't get your hopes up. The manga is up to something like 36 volumes and from what I've heard it isn't slowing down; the author has stated that it's going to be his entire life's work. What's covered in the anime is pretty much a prologue to the real story. Hopefully the movies will be successful and they'll do an ongoing TV series of the post-Golden Age content.

@Rager: They are adapting the exact same part of the story as the previous TV series. This is pretty much a remake with theatrical production values and less traditional animation. As such it's pretty doubtful the ending will be any more satisfying, though I guess if these three films are hugely successful (the TV series was not) they might decide to make some more movies andactually adapt the rest of the story.

It wasn't successful? Shitty. I bought a pirated DVD set of the series (which is heavily censored near the end) and my room mates watched the complete series 3 times over back in the day, and I had plenty of friends asking to borrow it. Shame. It was good, just a real slow burner with an ending that just kind of drops!

fuck this pseudo RnB music crap, where the fuck is my susumu

Hahaha very true.
I didn't know he had done the soundtrack of the anime series until I started watching it. Talk about happy surprises!
