French Trailer For Maury And Bustillo's LIVID Arrives

The sophomore feature by the directors of much-loved French horror picture Inside (A L'Interieur), Livid was quite possibly the most anticipated international horror title of the year and one that threw audiences at the Toronto International Film Festival through a bit of a loop due to its radical shift in style. Livid has proven to be a polarizing title, a highly stylized fusion of haunted house story and creature feature with heavy giallo overtones.

Those curious as to what's coming can get their first look now, the first French trailer for the film having just arrived. Take a look below.

saw this at fantastic fest, a lot of people didnt appreciate the tonal shifts throughout, but i think if you are open minded and accept the fairytale style story, its awesome.

It wasn't the tonal shifts that got me, it's that the one main guy is incredibly stupid and everybody else just followed behind him.

The film doesn't really present us with good characters, story, or an ending that makes sense without hallucinogenic drugs. What it does do well is create atmosphere. The problem I have with a lot of haunted house films is that the house itself just isn't interesting or creepy but somehow the mansion in this one comes alive.

I do feel let down that this is the followup to such a strong first film but it's definitely still worth seeing for fans.

That's a wildly ignorant statement.

I found Inside worked well at establishing characters, setting, etc, and furthermore although I thought the ending was slightly Monster of the Week territory, it made sense in terms of the ratcheting up of violence we were seeing.

Establishing highly idiotic characters that is, every single character in "inside" is a waste of time, of actors, of screenplay and so on. Idiotic barely begins to describe them. The entire movie was an insult to anyone's intelligence. So once more, that these hacks made another awful movie is no surprise at all.

"Inside" was definitely not an insult to my intelligence, nor was it an insult in any way to the majority of people I know who watched it and enjoyed it. You seem angry in your postings. Did the subject matter offend you? We all have opinions on what makes a movie good and unfortunately you did not like "Inside", but to call it idiotic and a waste of time is ridiculous. No matter how much you didn't like this movie, there cannot be any doubt that it's well made and well acted. On a technical level, "Inside" looks great and is shot with style. It's fair to state that you didn't appreciate the characters or that you thought the decisions they made were "idiotic", but in no way does this make a movie "awful". Do you watch a lot of movies? There are far worse horror flicks out there that make "Inside" look like a masterpiece. As for my opinion, "Inside" is one of the best French horror films to come out in years and I'm excited to see Livid... :)

Inside is awful, no matter how pretty it looks. At the end looks no matter if the inside (heh) is just hollow. The "there are worse movies out there" argument is also a very dull excuse. The entire nature of Inside is build upon the most useless, tiredsome and old cliches of the slasher genre. So the word idiotic does apply, because the movie is more interested in providing cheap thrills than giving us interesting or at least convincing characters. Because of that, saying it's an insult to anyone's intelligence is not me being "angry", just pointing out the childish and simplistic nature of a movie worried too much with "shocking" for the sake of it. Like a 13 year old who listens to Slipknot to piss off his parents.

The entire french wave of horror has been as pointless and mediocre as all the remakes of asian horror movies, and classic horror flicks, or all those pointless Saw sequels and other assorted torture porn crap and zombie rehashes we get these days.

I have read all your posts, and honestly you add nothing to the discussion. All you keep harping about is that this film sucks, or that films sucks...i mean jeez, why do you even bother watching anything or reading anything at all when its pretty clear the end result is you hating it. this is the path modern cinema is taking and if you don't like it ,don't watch it. You seem to be an insecure person who has not done anything in life so he hates on the people who do. very sad, very sad indeed. Don't waste our time with your blatant hater comments.

I think i was quite clear and detailed in my explanation as to why Inside is a waste of time. If people don't want to hear bad things about their precious favorite films then don't go into the internet. It's clear that i hit a nerve reading the childish defensive posture you adopt, and you seem to be unable to elaborate as to why Inside is a good film in any way, shape or form. At the end of the day nobody is going to remember that movie, just like the rest of all that torture porn stuff pretending to be some kind of "artistic" achievement, or even a social statement.

The inept use of the riots in France as background to Inside made it even more offensive in it's clumsy attempt at being "relevant", or "socially aware" in some form. I wish the people doing these films at least were honest about just wanting to make gory movies and nothing more. Stop pretending you are doing "social drama" or a "commentary on modern society" because it makes your silly horror movies look even more embarrasing.

Well its good to see you take individual films on their merit. You have offered nothing incisive or original in terms of commentary on Inside, and furthermore, you are clearly incapable of distinguishing detail from "inside" any horror narrative at all.

You know, I thought "Inside" was wildly overrated as well but for some reason I keep watching these French horror movies and this one looks interesting enough. The trailer has a very "Silent Hill"-esque vibe about it and by that I mean the first three games in the series, not the movie. I will be checking this out.
