Tick, Tock, It's the New Trailer for Scorsese's HUGO 3D

Everyone loves an urchin. Martin Scorsese's Hugo (its title truncated from the original Hugo Cabret) is coming to theaters in November, and Paramount has released a new trailer. So what do you all think?

It's definitely visually elaborate, and Scorsese is always interesting when he delves in genres outside of straight-up drama (if not always successful), but Hugo hasn't yet clicked with me in any real way. There's a lot going on in the frame, and the music swells and crescendos appropriately, but it feels like a forced march of whimsy, which can't at all be the feel that the trailer is going for. Crucially, though, I'm not getting the intended sense of mystery behind the whole movie from this trailer or anything else I've heard about the film up until this point.

We'll see what the the movie holds in store when it's released on November 23.

Scorsese doing steampunk for kids. It's like my worst nightmare.

You know, that might be my biggest problem that is not at all the director's fault: I find the steampunk aesthetic completely and totally dull.
