More of The Fly from David Cronenberg? Realistically it's very unlikely to happen at this point but if that proves to be the case the lack of progress won't be for a lack of effort on Cronenberg's part.
Rumors of a reboot of The Fly first began to circulate in 2009 and in a brand new interview Shock Til You Drop took the opportunity to ask Cronenberg about it directly. Says the man:
'The Fly' is not exactly a remake, it's sort of a sequel, kinda. Yeah, that was a thing. I've written a script of that, and I don't know if that's going to really happen, but that has to do with Fox.
Time for a letter writing campaign? A big group freak out? If there's a script out there for more of The Fly from Cronenberg then I want to see that film. Come on Fox, make it happen.

I'd be happy to see at least one more sci-fi movie from Cronenberg before he retires. I'd rather it was an original but, hell, I won't complain.
I sure hope so! I miss pre-2000's Cronenberg; even though I like his recent output, I want more fucked up weirdo sci-fi horror!
Pretty sure Videodrome had a big hand in the turning point of my taste for weird films as preteen.
