UK indie director Simon Rumley has won a lot of love in these pages, his features The Living And The Dead and Red, White And Blue proving to be challenging but rewarding fare. And Rumley is headed to China for his next feature, a thriller titled Stranger.
The story of an American venture capitalist who witnesses a murder in a remote part of China and has to run for his life, Stranger was modeled to a degree after Steven Spielberg's Duel. Casting begins this week with production scheduled for early 2012.
Rumley has also announced that he is attached for another Texas-set feature after Stranger. Titled The Cherished One the film will revolve around a serial killer who uses his young daughter as bait to snare victims. There is no word yet when this may move forward.
