Pity Rooney Mara, for no matter how good she may be in David Fincher's version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo she will always be compared to Noomi Rapace. Rapace's performance of Lisbeth Salander launched her career into the stratosphere, making her one of the most sought after actresses in the world with upcoming roles in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes 2 and Ridley Scott's Prometheus, to name just two, but before she packed up for Hollywood Rapace took the time to complete one more project close to home.

Anna and her 8-year old son, Anders, are on the run from Anders' violent father. They move to a secret address in a giant apartment building. Anna is terrified that her ex-husband will find them and buys a babycall to make sure Anders is safe while he sleeps. But strange noises echoe in the babycall from elsewhere in the building. Anna overhears what she believes is the murder of a child. Meanwhile, Anders gets a mysterious, dark-haired friend who comes and goes a she wants. Does Anders' friend know something about the sounds in the babycall? Why is there blood on Anders' drawing? Are they still in danger?
The latest from Pål Sletaune (Naboer) is dark, powerful stuff built around a role seemingly tailor made for an actress of Rapace's gifts. We ran a teaser for the film a while back but the Norwegian theatrical trailer has just arrived and it is looking very strong. Check it out below.

Pål Sletaune, the director, is norwegian.
Noomi Rapace, as far as I know, is swedish. That's the country just to the right of Norway.

Could've sworn she was from Norway, but right you are. Off I go to fix that ...

Don't know what the hell they're saying, but it looks great. Loved Sletaune's Next Door.

Maybe I haven't seen enough Kristoffer Joner, but that hairdo cracked me up. He's great. NABOER was great, but this film's theme seems a little stale. I'm in though, hoping my take will be the same as for NABOER: "I haven't seen it played the way these players play it".
