Time to weigh in, Stephen King fans: How would you feel about an Alexandre Aja directed remake of Pet Sematary? Because if Paramount has their way that's exactly what is going to happen.
Word of an impending Pet Sematary remake first surfaced in February with word that producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Steven Schneider were armed with a script by Matt Greenberg (1408, Reign Of Fire) and on the prowl for a high level director.
Aja certainly qualifies on that count and has proven - repeatedly - that he's not shy about remaking beloved material. His name turns up on a lot of wishlists for this sort of project but Pet Sematary has moved beyond that stage with Paramount now actively trying to sign him up. The key issue here will no doubt to come down to Aja's schedule but with his next big project - Cobra: The Space Pirate - still looking for money and not scheduled to shoot until 2013 there's no reason at all he couldn't fit this in first.

Although I'm numb to remakes, and I'd really love to see something original out of Aja, I think I could muster some excitement about this remake knowing he was handling it (although I thought his PIRANHA remake was hit or miss).
PS - you guys have been getting a lot of great scoops recently. Keep up the great work!
My first thought was that they need Caleb Landry Jones for Pascal. The kid would be perfect for the role.
I won`t watch this remake.I think the woman who directed Pet Sematary films should do a third film so it becomes a trilogy.
I would be thrilled with a high-quality remake of Pet Sematary, but not a re-hash of an already poor film. I absolutely love the book but the film was dreadful; terrible acting (apart from Fred Gwynne) and a dire script. I'm of the opinion that Frank Darabont is the only director who makes top-quality Stephen King adaptations. So yes if it's going to be taken seriously, no if it's going to be rubbish.
So another stupid horror remake gets the green light. I refuse to pay money to see any more of these ill-advised projects. Aja will crush any small amount of credibility he has as a filmmaker if he takes on this remake. I WILL NEVER SEE THIS MOVIE.
no. i do NOT want this film remade. don't fix what's not broken. the original is perfect as it is. mary lambert did a better job than anyone could ask for. it doesn't need to be remade. the first one wasn't cheesy and had a cool soundtrack. the actors were perfect at portraying what the book intended. i like his remake of hills have eyes but how about we stop with all the remakes and think up our own ideas. this is the only one me, and many others just do not want to happen.
The original was LAME!! I'm a die hard King fan, and the novel scared the hell out of me. The 1st movie did almost nothing with the walk to the Micmac burial ground, Little God Swamp, or the Wendigo, which was the REASON for the story in the 1st place. I would love to see this remake follow the book and capture the story in all it's true terror!
I think this is a mistake. There are plenty of King films that need remaking, but this isn't one of them. It was not only one of the best adaptations but one of the scariest movies I've ever seen.
well i think they should do a 3rd one so we could know what happen do the daughter of the 1st part becasuse in the second part they said we went crazy mybe she could be the main charter in how to stop all the madenns
