First Trailer For Studio 4C Animated BERSERK Feature Film

Over recent years it has become increasingly clear that the work of Studio 4C needs to be sorted and considered in two entirely different categories. There are the Studio 4C projects developed and created entirely in-house. And then there is the work-for-hire stuff. And the quality of the two can be quite different.

So it is worth noting right at the beginning that Berserk Golden Age Arc 1: Egg Of The Supreme Ruler - the film version of one part of Kentarō Miura's popular manga - belongs in the second pile. Which isn't to say it looks bad but you certainly shouldn't expect anything as unique and high end as what 4C did with Mind Game or Tekkon Kinkreet, for example. But still, Berserk is a hugely popular title and - even when limited by budget and outside design work - Studio 4C remain one of the best in the game. Check out the trailer below.

Berserk deserves the best from Studio 4ºC. WB is behind this , so lets hope they give the studio a good budget.

The animation looks really good in some parts...and really dodgy in others. Its perfectly understandable that the big battle scenes use a lot of cg...its just too damn difficult to draw those scenes by hand (just ask Miura..lol) , but you cant do the same with character artwork. In a 20 second clip there's very good examples of perfect artwork , and then some really bad , showing clearly bad cg in facial expressions. We're still 5-6 months away so lets hope some of these scenes are not completed because it's really unbalanced.

The idea of adapting Berserk as animated movies is plain awesome. The manga is a big sucess , and has a lot of fans in Europe and US. And its the type of product , because of the medieval environment , that even non-anime fans end up enjoying it.

I'm absolutely a die-hard fan of the Berserk manga so I'm super excited to see it adapted into a several-parted anime film. Its probably rank up there as the greatest comic, if not the best that I ever read. Considering Susumu Hirasawa has been onboard scoring the music for the anime series and the video game of Berserk, it would be welcoming to see him back for this.

Looks ok. Could be a little grittier but the second half of the trailer gives me hope.

Could be better, but still lightyears ahead of the TV series.

There's a hd version which looks much better in motion than the sd version.

The official site also shows some beautiful backgrounds.
