Something to be aware of if you are planning to watch Miguel Angel Vivas' Kidnapped on VOD. While sources at IFC have assured us that the version of Kidnapped being released theatrically will feature the original Spanish language audio track with English subtitles we are getting reports from readers that the version available on VOD - apparently the only version available on VOD - features the English language dub track. If you want the Spanish you're going to need to see the film theatrically or wait for the DVD.

Wow, what an amazingly stupid move of IFC's part. If this situation were represented by a venn diagram, the circle for "people who seek out semi-obscure Spanish thrillers" and "people who like to watch dubbed movies" would have no overlap whatsoever.
*on IFC's part.
It's more like they are looking at a diagram of people who watch kidnapped thrillers on vod lined up with people who watch subtitled
movies and there being little no shared ground and the first group is hundreds of times bigger.
I can assure you that KIDNAPPED is only playing subtitled at the reRun Gastropub Theater starting tomorrow (June 17 - 23). More info here if you're in NYC: http://kidnapped.eventbrite.com/
The weird thing is that they sent out dubbed screeners, then asked people not to review those since they weren't going to release it that way. At the least, they seemed to know the issue was there (presumably from the fallout of We Are the Night, which was also dubbed).
