While South Korean director Kang Je-gyu may not be as well known as some of his fellow directors outside of his native country, he is certainly one of the most important directors working in Korea today. His track record speaks for itself. The fact that he has previously only made 3 films makes it even more incredible that 2 of his films upon their releases became the best selling movie of all time in Korea. One was the spy thriller SHIRI, which started the renaissance of the Korean film industry back in 1999. The other was the 2004 war movie TAE GUK GI: BROTHERHOOD OF WAR, which some critics have called Korea's SAVING PRIVATE RYAN.
From Kang now comes a film that looks guaranteed to be another huge blockbuster - MY WAY. It has a massive budget and an all-star cast including Korea's Jang Dong-gun (THE PROMISE, FRIEND), Japan's Joe Odagiri (AIR DOLL, DREAM) and China's Fan Bingbing (SHAOLIN, BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS). The film, which tells the story of the friendship between two soldiers during World War II, was launched at the Cannes Film Festival, and is due for release in Korea and Japan in December this year.
Embedded below is the first trailer for MY WAY.

this movie should be good+bloody
I love Taeguki man
i love Korean cinema, but i gotta say i was not so crazy about Taeguki. it was overly melodramatic for my taste in war movies, but maybe i should watch it again.
I loved Brotherhood Of War, i've been waiting to see what the director would do next, and if its another war film then thats cool with me..
