We've been waiting a long time for Alexander Payne's follow up to Sideways (really, almost seven years??) and our appetites were only whetted by his show stealing short XIVe arrondissement a few years back in Paris, Je t'aime. Well the wait is finally allllmost over. The Descendants comes to theaters in a mere six and a half months. Mark your calendars now for December 6th (and hope hope hope it plays if you are headed to TIFF).
The film stars George Clooney as a rich dude taking care of his daughters after his wife is sidelined by a horrible accident. Sounds heavy but Payne has a way of making any tough situation brilliantly hilarious. The script was adapted from Kaui Hemmings's novel by Payne and actors Nat Faxon and Jim Rash. It co-stars Shailene Woodle, Amara Miller, Beau Bridges, Judy Greer, Matthew Lillard, and Robert Forster.

That's... actually a pretty damn good trailer...
Pretty much loved everything Payne has done since ELECTION - and yup, this looks like another cracker. ABOUT SCHMIDT made me cry like an infant.
Mathew Lillard? He's alive? And in what's apparently a decent movie?
Not saying he himself is a bad actor (he's not), but his choice of projects is often underwhelming...
I'm sorry, what? I like Payne, but this looks really horrible.
