U.S. Remake Of TROLL HUNTER Still A Go!

There are still plans for a U.S. remake of Troll Hunter, the Norwegian vérité style cult creature feature in the making, by director André Øvredal. And he could not be happier according to the fellas over at JoBlo

"There is a contract negotiation going on," the director said enthusiastically. "But it's taking months, just because of details in the contract. There should be an announcement within several weeks." Based on his tone, it surprised me a little that Øvredal sounded all for this remake. As we know, some directors immediately scoff at the idea of their work being remade, especially when it's a film that is just being released and hasn't had a chance to connect with the audience on its own. "They have to make the announcement, but I am very proud that these people want to do the remake," Øvredal said, referencing mysterious participants whose identities he wouldn't divulge. "I'm very happy about it."

Feelings about remakes aside, we do like the original Troll Hunter a lot. And we implore you to see it either by VOD on May 6th or in the cinema if you're fortunate enough that it comes to a cinema near you when it reels on June 10th. For maximum effect see it in a cinema!

Does the U.S. of A even have Troll folklore? Other than the Fremont Troll in Seattle?

I've seen Troll Hunter and I can't see them doing a remake based in the US. I figure the story might have some college students traveling abroad and then basically having the same story line go from there.

The other option would be to change the creature and make it something more local. Like a sasquatch.

Or Hillbillies!!! Hillbilly Hunter! The Appalachia Trail! Dental Hygiene makes them turn to stone!

finally getting to see this tomorrow night in rochester at our local film fest http://film360365.com/main/

Since the USA doesn't really have any mythos my guess is that they will deal with native American mythology.

The only problem is that no one in America knows anything about native mythology.
