If you're Tony Jaa and you're looking to rebuild your career after the very public meltdown and collapse that was the production of Ong Bak 2 - find the details on that here - how do you go about doing it?

Well, one possible solution - a very good possible solution - is to get the hell out of Thailand to a nation where memories are a little shorter and where the masses did not witness your televised breakdown. Then pair yourself up with an acknowledged master, cut out all the outside distractions and focus on simply doing what you do best. And that appears to be exactly what Jaa is now doing.

Details are sketchy but according to reliable sources, with Jaa now out of the Buddhist monastery he took refuge in following the release of Ong Bak 3 and with his exclusive contract with Sahamongkol expiring, there is a new project for Jaa now doing the rounds of the Hong Kong industry looking to nail down the last pieces of needed finance to roll into production. Though we do not know the title or story details we are told that the legendary Sammo Hung is attached as fight choreographer.

A Hong Kong based project has long been rumored for Jaa and this seems the right move at the right time. It will allow Jaa to get back on form away from the media spotlight and pressures of home and, if it turns out, leave him free to ride back into Thailand as a conquering hero after it is completed. A number of companies are in active talks to come on board this one so it would appear that it is not a question of 'if' but of 'when'.

More details as we get them.

Great News,
made my day!

Sweet Jeebus! A gift sent straight from the Action Movie Gods. If he can bring the same magic we saw in stuff like Warriors Two and Eastern Condors and manage to to keep Jaa's stunts in, then we're probably in for something really special.

Excellent! I remember back in the glory days of Hong Kong action films, Sammo Hung was choreographing fights with brutal full-contacts so Sammo with Tony Jaa is a perfect fit.

With Donnie Yen on a roll, Jackie Chan getting back to form and prepping Armor of God III, Jet Li coming with White Snake, Sammo Hung still doing his thing and maybe working with Tony Jaa on a comeback, Scott Adkins still hanging in there, and a handful of other projects floating around like The Rza's film, Jija Yanin's projects, and others...I am allowing myself to be excited as Martial Arts Movie fan. A part of me is still hesitant, but man, I cant help but get excited about this stuff.

Now this is good news, just stay away from the wires and everything should be ok, he also needs to work with a better director...

Tony Jaa in Hong Kong Cinema, OMFG!!!! If everything rolls out right, we might see a career and then I can finally buy my Tony Jaa box set alongside, my Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Buster Keaton box set collection.. This is going to be fucking awesome, Tony Jaa elbowing muthafuckas HK style, WOOHOO!!!

"Tony Jaa elbowing muthafuckas HK style"...now thats a great box quote.

good news!

he's back!

it just doesn't make sense, a rising star who f*ked up budget for Ong Bak 2 and made Ong Bak 3 rubbish. People only notice Jaa for the breakdown, I don't know why media always bash someone for bad or mistakes things they do:/

I'm glad he's back man!

Do they really though? Ask Joe Blow standing next to you in the martial arts section of the DVD store if he has any clue about what went on with Tony and chances are he won't have a scooby. Frankly his personal troubles between II and III should have fizzled out of view months ago but the media won't let those who take more than a casual interest forget about it - super segue material for anyone who makes a boo boo. Hell it works a treat in this very article. If all it takes is some rumbling about a new project to nullify the negativity then that just proves that it's vapid banter that we can (and will) do without.

wtf are you talking about!? O_o

i'm just glad that he's back!
people will forget about the breakdown trash.
and Ong Bak 2 is really one of the best martial arts movie ever created:)

So today I found out that my wife is pregnant AND Sammo Hung will be working with Tony Jaa! Hell to the Mutha F’n Yeah! I’m really excited about this. Sammo has let me down on rare occasions but with having Tony there I would think he would make sure to put his best foot forward. And when he’s at his best… I’m really happy. Wah!!! So excited!

Congrats! Which one are you more excited about? :)

Awesome news. All due respect to the Thai action film industry, because there's a lot to love there, but in my opinion their fight choreography has never been on the same level as that of Hong Kong. Hope Sammo can bring out the best of Jaa's enormous physical talents.

I'll get more excited once there is an official announcement, but this is great news.

Still waiting for Jaa to be in a really good film, and I don't think that was ever going to happen in Thailand. HK Cinema has much greater potential, and could be perfect. A highly motivated Tony Jaa + Sammo Hung might equal magic.
