Director Kevin Tancharoen turned a lot of heads last year when he dropped his short film Mortal Kombat: Rebirth onto the internet. A dark vision of the video game classic created with the help of fight choreographer Larnell Stovall and a cast of talented fighters including Michael Jai White, nobody was quite sure what it actually was but we knew we liked it.
Well, that short has since morphed into a series of nine online shorts that are meant to feed into both the launch of a new game in the franchise and a new feature film. Titled Mortal Kombat: Legacy the first of the shorts will arrive on Machinima.com on April 12th with a cast including Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Voyager) as Sonya Blade, Michael Jai White (Black Dynamite) as Major Jackson 'Jax' Briggs and Darren Shahlavi (300) as Kano.
The first teaser for the new series is freshly arrived online and you can check it out below.

Darren Shahlavi was in 300? The only movie I can recognize him from is Ip Man 2. I see he's going to be in the new MI though. Happy to see him in more films.
Oh please don't suck. I can't take any more gawd awful video game to film adaptation.
