J.J. Abrams' Super 8 better deliver. That's all I can say at this point because the trailers and promo spots thus far have raised expectations so high that anything less than brilliance is going to come as a crushing disappointment. As a child raised on Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment films who now has a child that I am attempted to raise on Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment films the return of both that label and style of filmmaking could not possibly hit a sweeter spot. If this is anything less than a Goonies for our time I will cry a little inside.
All of that to say this: There is a new television spot for the film online now, one that includes a few glimpses of fresh footage that I'm sure are being dissected around the world by legions of Abrams cultists as I type this. Me, I just like that it makes me happy. Check it out below.
