There's no school like the old school. This is true of filmic superheroes and serial killers. Director Adam Green's splatterfest throwback to classic horror, Hatchet II, will be released by Arrow Films in select theatres in the UK this Friday, April 1st. Picking up exactly where the first film left off, sole survivor Marybeth gets help from Reverend Zombie and a band of professional hunters to finally eliminate deformed killer Victor Crowley. With the kills and gore ramped up in this unrated film, Green combines classic screams and chills with an eerie sense of the terrain. In Frozen, Green exploited our fear of the cold; in the Hatchet series, it is that strange jungle-like voodoo-inspired space of the Louisiana bayou. Combine this with some raunchy humour and a villain more than company for more infamous horror film killers such as Jason and Freddy, Hatchet II is sure to please fans of the original.
