I am jealous of my child. The Boy turns ten in April, the perfect age to begin exploring and experiencing films that push just a bit beyond the safety zone while still holding on to that special, childlike sense of wonder. The type of films that were a specialty of Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment through the 80s but have barely been seen since. Until now, when Spielberg and Amblin have teamed up with JJ Abrams to bring that style of film back. And the full trailer for the result, the Abrams' directed scifi adventure Super 8, makes it clear that this film will be The Goonies for a new generation of kids.
And I wish I still was one so I could experience it through those eyes, too. But even being older and more jaded this still looks pretty damn amazing to me.
The full trailer has gone out via Twitter and you can find it here. Or you can simply watch it below. Either way, do it now.

Dude this rocks my childhood. Seriously, the Spielberg vibe. Every kid looks like he was in the Goonies audition.
Blown. Away.
I am already preparing to be 12 years old again. Holy Moley this looks like EXACTLY what the movie doctor ordered.
Stoked beyond words now.
Another ET. Spielberg and Abrams. Overrated bunch.
This might be the E.T. that Spielberg initially wanted to make but turned it in to a friendly alien in the end.
I'll be first in line with my "E.T." shirt, "Goonies" hat, and a plush Gizmo.
