It's a motorcycle! It's a robot! It knows karate! It's Karate Robo Zaborgar!

The latest from director Noboru Iguchi (The Machine Girl, Robo Geisha) has gotten a lot of love around these parts and now, on the heels of its premiere in Rotterdam, the first teaser for the film has arrived online. It's brief but tasty. Check it out below and hit the links for lots more on this one.

I truly wished i could say this was good. Yes it has it's moments which are hilariously absurd but it just couldn't hold my attention for the duration.

Hmmm. Thing is, you could say that about almost any of the splattergore films by Iguchi and Nishimura, especially if you have seen several shortly after each other. With Zaborgar I briefly lost interest when the next Daimon arrived, but in my opinion the film recovered itself quickly and went on to a satisfying finale.

Zaborgar was a big crowdpleaser at the Rotterdam Festival so it seems to fare quite good so far....

While I guess the same could be said for the crowds at any movie, I always suspect the crowds for these movies to be full of genre fans, and not much more. Even with the usually diverse moviegoers at filmfestivals. Skipped the screening of this movie, but when I was at a screening of Appleseed (2nd I think?) at the IFFR a few years back, the audience seemed to be made up out of your typical anime lovers. And got really high ratings at that, even though the movie was pretty, but not much more.
