Well done, Well Go.
Well Go USA have purchased rights to Jackie Chan's 100th film - patriotic potboiler 1911, the story of the overthrow of the Qing Dynasty and establishment of the Republic Of China - and plan to release the film theatrically in the USA on the same date as the Chinese theatrical release.
Despite what The Hollywood Reporter may say about it Well Go aren't the first to do this but they are among the earliest adopters of the only strategy that seems to have a hope of spurring US audiences to see Asian films on the big screen rather than waiting for the cheap import copies and bootlegs which typically arrive on local shores months before anybody even starts talking about a local release.
Personally I'm sick to death of this current wave of ultra-nationalistic Chinese films but this is a very smart move by Well Go and one that Chan fans would do well to support if they want to see Well Go and other distributors of Asian titles continue to put these films on the big screen.

I don't know anything about the movie, so I can't say for sure, but that should probably be Qing Dynasty, not Ming Dynasty.
Jackie Chan is trapped, in real life, as an ambassador between the west and communist, repressive, China. God bless him, but he's scroot. Westerners don't want to see this propaganda, but he has to appease those distant tyrants because they have the home address of everyone he loves. Jackie Chan just wants to put out a quality product for people to enjoy. I hope his fan base will keep their mind, and hearts, open when they go see this film, and not judge Jackie too harshly.

I thought Jackie Chan's 100th movie was supposed to be Armor of God 3: Chinese Zodiac. Whatever happened to this project? I hope it doesn't stay in the backburner for too long. I want to see one last true vintage Chan-style action before he call it quits for good.
Oh well I guess China is 30 years behind the US.
I got that same "sick to death" feeling in the 80's with the crop ultra-nationalistic US propaganda films of that era...
They tried to resurrect these type of films under Dubya's reign, but they never really took off like they did in the 80's.
Every nation has the right to flog its patriotism. If world audiences don't want to watch, then they simply don't have to...
how is this propaganda for the Communists? Its the revolution of 1911...its the formation of the Republic of China by the Nationalist party...not the communist party...this is definitely nationalistic for all Chinese around the world...but its not promoting communism (at least the historical events don't)
