Earlier this week Fangoria brought word that Italian director Michele Soavi was planning a sequel to his cult smash Cemetery Man (Dellamorte, Dellamore) - news that sent shock waves through the horror community. Also tucked into that article was vague word that Soavi was also planning to shoot a Goonies-style adventure set in Pompeii, with Nicolas Cage hopefully set to star.
Well, we couldn't just leave that sort of news hanging and so we reached out directly to the director and here's what he had to say.
The adventure film is titled Treasure Of Pompeii and it will definitely be his next project, with production scheduled to begin in April. Nicolas Cage is not yet officially cast, though the producers of the film have made an offer and are hopeful that he will come on board. Soavi's hope is that Cemetery Man 2 will come next after Treasure Of Pompeii.
And what of the previously announced Katakomb Klub, Soavi's collaboration with frequent Terry Gilliam writer Charles McKeown? That's been set aside for the time being due to budgetary concerns.

Way to follow up! Any new Soavi is good new Soavi in my book!
Well, based on Mr. Cage's last couple of movies, I don't think he even knows how to turn an offer down.
So I'm very optimistic about Cage joining Soavi.
