The irony to the final theatrical trailer for Miguel Angel Vivas' punishing home invasion thriller Kidnapped (Secuestrados) is that it includes probably thirty or forty more cuts and edits than occur in the full run time of the actual movie. You see, the power of the feature lies in Vivas' utter refusal to let his audience look away, the entire film being composed of only twelve very lengthy shots.
That's not to say the trailer isn't accurate to the spirit and content of the film. Because it is. Entirely. The tension and sense of unease that the film gives are in full effect here as well. This is unflinching, punishing stuff.
Jaime, Marta and their daughter Isa have just moved into a luxurious new house. Marta begins to prepare the dinner and puts a bottle of champagne on ice to celebrate the move. As night falls, three hooded men violently force their way into the house. Panic ensues and soon the real violence will begin.
