With the release of Peter Chan's big budget remake of Chang Cheh's The One Armed Swordsman coming closer a new block of stills from the picture have just arrived online. And, typically for Chan, they're pretty much gorgeous.

Titled simply Wuxia this new version of the Shaw Brothers classic stars Donnie Yen, Takeshi Kaneshiro, and Tang Wei with original star Jimmy Wang Yu featured in a key supporting part. All are featured in the new images. Check the gallery below.

Hoped it would be set in the Ming Dynasty.
Donnie looks here pretty cool.

stills are looking great so far!!! reminds me that i gotta try and track down Tsui Hark's excellent & gritty remake: "The Blade" on DVD

The DVD I have for The Blade stinks. Poor picture and not nearly as good as I remember seeing it in the theater circa 1997.

I wish they'd give it a proper rerelease as it is one of Hark's better films.

yeah, too bad its set in the Qing Dynasty... but fortunately it still looks pretty nice

I am pretty sure if you look at a different region DVD of the Blade you will find a good quality release.

Cant wait to see Wuxia, glad to see Donnie Yen in yet another film.

If you don't need English subtitles (or can make do with French ones) the French DVD of THE BLADE is as good as you're likely to get, ever. If you need English subtitles, you have your choice of an out-of-print LaserDisc, VCD, VHS, or the UK DVD. There is no in print legal English subtitled release of this film. Just get a bootleg... if the film's owners (Warner Bros.) cared they'd give it a legitimate release. The hell with 'em, they've had ten years to do something with it and they've refused at every turn.
