Itching for a taste of Wuxia, the Donnie Yen and Takeshi Kaneshiro starring remake of The One Armed Swordsman from director Peter Chan? Well, here it is. Though there's still no trailer the first three stills from the film have been released and - as you'd expect from Chan - they are rather attractive.
Peter Chan has a well earned reputation as one of the Chinese speaking world's very best directors, a talent who consistently manages to fuse remarkably high levels of artistry with a blockbuster sensibility without sacrificing or pandering to either audience. And if he can execute his vision of Chang Cheh's classic film as well as he pulled off recent period blockbuster The Warlords then we're in for something special. Check the gallery below.

Is there something going on with the titles of this and "Shaolin"? Sort of like saying they want to go back to basics in a way? I hope so, Detective Dee and Reign of Assassins were great flicks that truly go back to form in terms of engaging martial arts cinema. I want more of that please.
As much as I look forward to this and The Lost Bladesman, I hope the action in those will be better shot this time. It appears that Donnie had to step away from the creative processes of these movies (Bodyguards And Assassins and Legend Of The Fist) he action directed, resulting some clumsily shot action scenes. I hope that doesn't happen.
