The 3D wave is now sweeping over Asia.
With China, Japan and Korea all dipping their toes into the 3D water recently expect more announcements like this one:
Korean production house Chungeorahm Films have announced that their sequel to Bong Joon-Ho's monstrous hit The Host is being prepped in 3D. Korean commercial director Park Myeong-chan will direct with the effects work being handled within Korea this time rather than being farmed out abroad. Chungeorahm are still drumming up investors for the film, which they hope to release in summer 2012.
It's worth noting here that at one time there was a second, parallel Host sequel planned for production in China with Crazy Racer's Ning Hao reportedly attached to direct but that project appears to have fallen by the wayside.

I thought AFTERSHOCK was 35mm blown up to IMAX - was it a 3D conversion as well? Then again, I also thought they'd finished shooting THE HOST 2 by now. Or at least started shooting it.
Of course it will be in 3D. It wouldn't be cinema-worthy if it wasn't.
I truly hope that Park Myeong-chan can achieve the same effects as WETA did, but I am not sure that is possible. The special effects in The Forbidden Kingdom were not that special. But at least it will be in 3D!
3D or not, lets just hope he makes a good film worthy of the original..
