Well, well, what a wonder a bit of extra post production has done for the look and feel of the upcoming live action adaptations of popular manga and anime series Gantz.

Releasing as two features - the first at the end of January, the second later in 2011 - the story revolves around two young men killed by a train only to be revived and recruited for a series of assassinations and if the freshly released theatrical trailer is to be trusted it looks as though they've kept the level of violence rather high.

More importantly, though, they've made a big, glossy science fiction action picture that actually looks like a movie rather than cheap TV, which is a rarity in the current Japanese film climate.

Kazunari Ninomiya and Kenichi Matsuyama star in Shinsuke Sato's films. Check the new theatrical trailer below.

looking good. the story looked quite advance for just one movie.

This can't possibly be a single film. I think they are shooting several back-to-back. Still, I'm not touching something this dreadful.

The manga for this is at once the most insane thing I've ever read, as well as the most entertaining. The Anime series was fantastic, and I would have loved to seen it continue to tell the stories ala DBZ. But with the manga coming to an end soon, I'm eager to see this.
