We learned back in March that director-producer duo of Timur Bekmambatov and Tim Burton had ponied up their own money to option film rights to Seth Grahame-Smith's Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. But beyond that they liked it and wanted to make it badly enough to kick their own money into making it we knew nothing. But things just got a whole lot clearer.
Deadline is reporting that earlier today Fox won a multiple studio bidding war for the project. The script - written by Grahame-Smith himself - is in hand and the plan is to begin shooting the $70 million picture in March. Bekmambetov directs with Burton producing and the axe-wielding president yet to be cast.
