Keeping up with releases has been rough lately. But I wanted to make sure these next few got in. Okay you don't really need this on Blu but it's definitely worth checking out if you're married. The excuse for all the broad comedy, the need for the couple to reconnect, is handled pretty sweetly here. The end result is that after all the laughs you might just walk away inspired to talk a little bit with your significant other. For those who just want laughs there are plenty. Date Night wastes a few opportunities but not many and the ending in the strip club is definitely a highlight. A re-teaming of Fey and Carrell later on with a better script? Let's hope so.
This brings up an important point. Carrell and Fey do have good chemistry- especially of the old bored married kind. I also get sick of people ragging on Baby Mama and Get Smart. These two haven't squandered their potential they just need the right vehicles. I'll take a flat out bad film from either of them over almost anything from any number of Hollywood has beens and comedy whores currently plying their wares.
Extras here are numerous and include Director Shawn Levy audio commentary on the theatrical version, deleted and extended scenes, several featurettes, gag reel, camera tests and even some faux public service announcements. This isn't on the same shelf with stuff like Tommy Boy but it is a lot of fun. As expected from a newer film this looks dynamic on Blu.

Wow. I'm with you to the extent that I like these two, but I felt the humor in this film was so written it hurt to watch it.
I like the cast but this movie is a perfect example of how to fast-track the process of becoming a has-been. Bloody terrible in every way.
Steve Carrell is going to end up regretting leaving THE OFFICE.
This movie was almost as bad and throw away as *name a Will Farrell film*
Tina Fey is also a parody of herself at this point, what I call the SEX IN THE CITY Syndrome. Start out making fun of a certain demographic/type, then become embraced by that same demographic/type because they don't get the joke, money starts rolling, become assimilated, and then become what was being mocking in the first place.
