Japan seems to have made acclaimed cinematographer Christopher Doyle moderately insane. Or, at least, slightly more insane than usual. First was the musical-fantasy-sex film Underwater Love and with that out of the way he is now hard at work shooting a 3D horror film - I believe Doyle's first foray into the third dimension - for The Grudge director Takashi Shimizu. The title? Rabbit Horror 3D. The rabbits? Quite clearly plush toys. This is weeeeeeiiiiird. Mitsushima Hikari, Kagawa Teruyuki, Omori Nao and Ogawa Tamaki star.

I am amazed. Christopher Doyle is just the man.
And Mitsushima Hikari is the actress. She's really been doing some good stuff.
Both sad and elated by this news. On one hand, me and some other video kids did this exact thing years ago (just not in 3D) under the title "BUNNY INFERNO!"
(see what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iwj7IGuJkoE and my favorite clip from it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXycHTxEqKw)
So seeing this same concept that we bullshit together a couple nights in a row in college being done for real by paid filmmakers is a bummer.
But I'm elated as a cinephile because Christopher Doyle is the best cinematographer alive and he's going to kick the shit out of our "BUNNY INFERNO!" with whatever he does on this. And I do kinda want to see that, regardless of my slight jealousy...
This looks neat, I'm always down for some new 3D horror. My Bloody Valentine, Piranha, and Scar are some of the must-see films of this group
