A BLURAY for THE LOSERS

This flew under the radar so far I didn't even notice it sitting in the pile. Based on a comic by Andy Diggle this movie needs less to be reviewed than simply offered up with a Buy It Now button- it's that crass. Some feel it shares the comics manic energy but I say it's far too self aware for that. Special Forces soldiers opt out of a direct order that would result in civilian deaths and become revenge machines. If the plotting were any more paint by numbers this wouldn't even make a good TV movie. In Diggles comic there's time to explore those cliches in a way that make them seem more urgent and alive. Here they're mainly loud and obnoxious. On the surface the disc seems like it has a lot of special features but most run well under ten minutes each. In an age where everything comic is being thrown up on the big screen as fast as studios can churn it out Diggles comic is treated as casually and disrespectfully as one might expect.
