Tired of vampires being all pretty and sparkly and sigh-inducing? So is Jim Mickle. The director of Stake Land has loaded his film with vampires that are the antithesis of the romanticized Twilight vamp, these are vicious, savage beasts. And they definitely aint pretty. Freshly selected for the Midnight Madness program at the Toronto International Film Festival, a pair of vampire pictures from the film have turned up online. Check the official festival description of the picture below, then the images in the gallery below that.
In the aftermath of a vampire epidemic, a teen is taken in by a grizzled vampire hunter on a road trip through a post-apocalyptic America, battling both the bloodsuckers and a fundamentalist militia that interprets the plague as the Lord's work.

So nice to see vampires that aren't emo or that look like they just came from a Nine Inch Nails concert. Here's hoping Mr. Mickle keeps the gruesomeness up high.
That description definitely has me intrigued.
