It took a moment to tally things up but the numbers have been checked and double checked and the Toronto After Dark Festival announced their award winners yesterday. Topping the Audience Award voting was Daniel Stamm's The Last Exorcism followed by cult hit The Human Centipede and the remake of I Spit On Your Grave. The festival has also added a special category of awards for independent features and taking those, in order, were Philip Ridley's Heartless, horror comedy The Last Lovecraft and - featuring our very own Michael Guillen as a background performer - All About Evil.

For a complete list of winners - there are several other categories - check out the official announcement here.

TLE winning After Dark isnt saying much, anyway, in my opinion. Their line-up wasn't all that great. If I remember it correctly, I think the only movie I saw on the roster that was any decent was Black Death (but then again, I know ppl who hated that too).

My favourites were Rubber and Heartless - both unusual and quite smart genre offerings. I was happy enough with the TADFF line-up, albeit I could do without the glut of splatter-zombie flicks that seem to fill up a day every year.
