The Walking Dead preview footage from Comic con drops, as do the jaws of many fans.
If you don't already know what The Walking Dead is let me clue you in. It is the most bad ass addition to the Romero-style zombie mythos since the maestro himself lensed Day Of The Dead back in almost 25 years ago in 1985. Based on the Image comic from Robert Kirkalnd, it is the only story in graphic form to ever make me cry, and man I mean weep. Well defined characters, clever storytelling, overall just an amazingly moving piece of work. The fact that Frank "God" Darabont is lensing it for the very courageous AMC network is nothing short of a small miracle. Breaking news also reveals that there may be a black & white home release and...wait for it...that George A. Romero himself may direct an episode for season two! Sources say this is now green lit, but let's wait and see if this indeed becomes official. It of course makes perfect sense.

Whoa. If it looks this good from some dude's camera phone, from a projected image 100 feet away, then AMC might just have the best show on television. Now when does it come out!!!???

October, it is and I cannot fucking wait for this show! From what I could make out, the trailer features a lot of scenes from Darabont's first draft of the script which was pretty incredible. I don't recognize Rooker's character, though. He's not in the pilot script and I don't think he's in the comic. It's been a long time since I read those first issues, though.
I dunno about the best show on TV, but AMC now has the best lineup on TV, with Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and now The Walking Dead. My only gripe (and I realize this is the comic geek in me coming out) is the use of "graphic novel" instead of "comic book". It sounds weird calling The Walking Dead a graphic novel when it is still an ongoing comic book series. Just sayin'.
Like the first comment this looks unbelievably impressive even from a recording on a camera phone. Will have to pray we get this in the UK same time... FX have signed it up over here allegdly. Is that Andrew Lincoln from UK TV shows?
