The Latest MACHETE Trailer Earns It's Red-Band Status.

Yes, I realize that the new trailer for Robert Rodriguez' Machete released on Friday but having spent all day Friday on a plane home from Korea and all day Saturday sleeping off the jet lag, I only came across it just now. And the intestine gag alone is enough to make sharing this an absolute must.

Yeah. This looks fun.  And thank you, Rodriguez, for understanding that if you're going to cut a red-band trailer there's just no excuse for not going all out with it.

I was pretty excited about this, but all of that awful CG blood bums me out . . . how difficult is it to spray some corn syrup on the ground these days? The CG blood trend must end, it looks like MS paint, and even for a movie that is clearly not too concerned with realism, it still shatters the verisimilitude when you see some computer generated Hershey's chocolate shoot out of a guys head.

The short answer to that is that while the actual blood isn't faster or cheaper to do CG versus practical, it IS much easier to shoot multiple takes using CG. Every shot you do with practical effects requires major cleaning up to reset the set, which slows things WAY down and adds up costs. That's the biggest reason people do it.

Needed some kick ass tune - no doubt will be in the finished piece. . Steven Seagal seems a bit out of place ( as a villain?) in a 70s grindhouse flick tho.Otherwise, nice.

Cheech Marin, fantastic as usual. The intestinal rope bit was hilarious. Rest of the trailer is so-so.
