All speculation regarding the direction Legendary Pictures would take in the design for the new US Godzilla film can now be laid to rest.
Attendees of the San Diego Comic Con yesterday may have found themselves with a brand new Godzilla t-shirt from the Legendary folk, one that not only features the design for the big lizard but one that also uses Augmented Reality technology to give visitor the Legendary booth a look at the big scaly guy breathing his atomic breath. Basically you walk by a webcam and the technology recognizes the image and superimposes the breath accompanied by the classic Godzilla screech. The AR stuff looks as cheesy as it sounds on paper but the design itself ... well, it's certainly a whole lot better than the last US effort.
* UPDATE *
I'm being told that while this image does indeed originate with Legendary Pictures it is NOT necessarily movie related. What else it could be I'm not sure and I have a very hard time imagining that they would release an image like this if they were doing anything significantly different with the movie designs, but there you have it.

Too bad there isn't a high res copy of the image, but they're definitely taking it the right direction after the Dead Devlin/Roland Emmerich clusterfuck.
