GATCHAMAN is Not Dead? First Teaser says Yes!

Contrary to my pessimistic outlook on the future of Imagi Studios after it ran into some financial problems, I'm glad to say the studio has somehow pull themselves out of the hole. In this new chapter for the company, their management has undergone major restructuring and the official site has been updated with a teaser trailer to Gatchaman which has the Science Ninja Team swiftly dispatching a spider mecha with each using their trademark weapons. According to former Imagi creative director Flex Ip, the so-call latest trailer was actually done before Imagi issue the closing of its animation department.  Time will tell what they plan to do next with the property.
Gatchaman is a fast-paced sci-fi action-thriller that's the moving story of a lone-wolf maverick youth who finds a family in the most unexpected way. Against a backdrop of stealthy ninja-style shadow fighting to full-scale clashes, five teenage superheroes defend Earth in an epic battle against evil aliens bent on destroying our planet.
The animated film is currently in pre-production and its expected to be out in 2011 2012.  You'll find the 1-minute teaser embedded below.  As an extra treat for Gatchaman fans, I also included some earlier work-in-progress animation and other related videos.

I was skeptical, but after looking through the site and seeing all the updated press releases on their financing, I will "pessimistically hope"* that this will come to pass, and will hope that after all the waiting, trials and tribulations that it's actually a good movie.

*Meaning I hope this works out but with the track record so far it seems hard to be optimistic.

This is cool but the old NTT commercials are the benchmark still:

Sadly, I think this teaser trailer looks just as bad as the other IMAGI productions… TMNT deserved better, ASTRO deserved better, and GATCHAMAN certainly derserves better too.

the Paul Wang's trailer is more convincing! I actually thought that was the real trailer.

I really don't like the teaser much, but i love how they all landed facing their head down:)

i had no idea it would be a CG movie O_o
