Crazy rave reviewed Australian high school prom horror-comedy The Loved Ones has finally unleashed a trailer to its homeland audiences, and it has to be seen to be believed just how freaking brilliant it looks!
First a spoiler warning -- as the trailer does seem a bit spoiler heavy -- but now you've gotten past that don't delay any longer in watching this gleeful, brutal first bite of Sean Byrne's debut feature.
We also have a look at the film's Australian poster art too, with the title now in gothic rock font!
Hopefully some crazy cinema owners program this in front of Twilight: Eclipse this weekend -- just so Twilight fans be shocked by the much, much darker side of their new heart throb Xavier Samuel...
Cue evil laugh.
The Loved Ones hits Aussie cinemas September 30.

Yup that trailer covers pretty much the whole movie - to be honest the trailer really shows you all you wanna know about this movie before going in. It's a helluva lot of fun and definitely best seen with an audience!
I like to support indie horror and I heard great things about this. But. every single aspect about this is.... well.... directly stolen from other films. I don't see a single original idea or image in the entire trailer. Obviously, all films borrow from others. And I can deal with that if it has something to add. As much as House of 1000 Corpses is a essentially a music video remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and say what you will of Rob Zombie, he at least had his own madhouse carnival visual aesthetic. He was an art director on Pee Wee's Big House. Now this film steals from that. I like the idea of sex zombie slaves made by boiling the victim's brains with Acid ala Jeffrey Dahmer but all I see is an overbearingly obvious mix of May, Otis (A LOT of Otis), 1000 Corpses, Texas Chainsaw, Audition, Hard Candy, Wolf Creek etc etc etc. Pass.
That was exciting
