China offers up tasty anime visuals in 'Ksitigarbha'

Though mainland China may not be considered a hotbed of animation there does come around a project once and a while that would appear to be on par with peers like Japan. The movie Ksitigarbha may just be one of those projects that compares favorably with its contemporaries.

The synopsis sounds a little muddled be here you are, Feng, though a cold-blood gangster, is actually a dutiful son. In a trance he vaguely saw his passed-away mother having a happy life in the Paradise. But not long after he discovered that his lovely mother had been driven to hell because of him. Experiencing a confusing and feverish pursue, Feng has to dig for the answer with his heart and blood.

The story takes place in the near future, in an extremely corrupted and completely commercialized overseas city where most of the residents are Chinese with great polarization between the rich and the poor.

The visuals are at their most impressive half way through the teaser, once the action starts kicking in. Yet impressive visuals do not solely a good movie make. Will the story be on par with the animation? Once we can get our greedy hands on it we'll be sure to let you know!

I already posted this trailer over a month ago. The studio producing this animated film is Vasoon Animation and the quality of work looks very promising. Also check out the trailer to their other upcoming animated films Deity Hunters and Legend 333 (aka Kuiba).

DAMN MAN!
EPIC sound fx, music and drawing!

This is my first cartoon drawn animation from China, and it looks so much better than 70% animes out in Japan!

The drawing details are too good!

I think China should invest and build up work for animation, I mean if China makes animation. We can start to see more anime movies like Swordsman 2, Hero. You know....when characters walk on water or flow and use energy swords. They will be portrayed much better in animation.
