When Patrick Boivin released his Iron Baby video it got a chuckle out of me but not much more. I am resistant to baby humor. Puppy humor, however, is a whole different thing and his new short - AT-AT Day Afternoon - is all kinds of awesome. Check it out below!

Absolutely amazing animation!!! I wish my AT-AT could do those things. Maybe if I actually finally assembled it? (mine's a small model kit from Revell which has been in storage for 20 years).

Anyway, great animation! Looking forward to more of your future work.

Yep, amazing. A writer knows their place for words, and here little to none will suffice.

Have we featured some of Boivin's shorts on Twitch? I just saw his "The Clown" with Dominic Pinion and it was down right genius.

Seeing the stills I was about to start on my "Erm, this is puppetry, live action, not animation, don't degrade one by saying it to be good at being something it isn't," routine but though it all looks more like puppetry there's shots here that I wouldn't have thought could even have been done with post-production-removed strings or chroma keying. Best guess just from viewing is that it's the old live-action-for-close-ups; animation-for-distance, as used in The Adventures of Pinocchio (1996), Lost in Space (1998) and much else around that time (though I think the former was stop-motion and the latter GC both are laughably disparate today) but so well integrated compared to those that one can only guesstimate at what is probably one and probably the other based on how difficult it would be to achieve in either medium.
