Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow.
It's the first trailer for Takashi Miike's 13 Assassins.
That's all you need to know! Recorded from Japanese TV the quality isn't quite as high as it could be but it's looking fantastic anyway.

awesome!
oh yes!!!
That looks great, has a real serious tone.
Out of all of Miike's films, I could actually see this going down as his "masterpiece". At the very least, we're in for an epic of, well, epic proportions.
This looks both good and entertaining.
This looks excellent. Totally agree with Metrogenic about potential masterpiece for Miike; seems like he's really perfected his craft over the years with all those films he's made. Really, really looking forward to this.
Hilarious that people are drooling over this just because Miike's name is on it. Take away his name and you have what you have, a trailer to a bland looking done a million times Samurai film. Hey, I dig some of his movies, but to blow your load over this trailer is hilarious. Some are even going as far as calling it a potential masterpiece. What? Can you even translate what's being said in the trailer?
That looks awesome. Just visually that looks like a beautifully composed film. Then when the action kicks in it's nice to see people can still stage action clearly and not fall back on that shaky-cam ADD editing crap.

Having seen the original '13 Assassins,' it was great to see that the last third of this trailer looked like a color version of that film's final setting (the town becomes a labyrinth which traps the baddies, leading to major blood letting.) And I too was relieved not to be looking at shakey-cam. This trailer, also, does not suggest "14 Blades," which was entertaining but CGI/wire infected. Rather, the choreography looks promising as it suggests classic 70's action. It does not suggest another "IZO." And it doesn't feel like a cartoon. I'm hopeful.
"Zebraman," "Yatterman," "Dead or Alive2," and "Yakuza Demon," (the later two are my favorites) among others by Miike, suggest the potential for deft character nuance. For that matter, his classics, "Happiness of the Katakuris," "Ichi, the Killer," and "Gozu," are amazing stylized masterpieces which combine genre chops and vital character detail.
Miike is prolific and eclelctic. His talents have not diminished ( cough - cough- like Tsui Hark's.) Instead of creating another "Sukiyaki Western,"(which was really unwatchable,) I hope, with all that is suggested here, that he reinvigorates the samurai genre (which has gotten flashy-soft and CGI driven and whose revival is said to be evidencing a death-rattle.)
I'm predicting awesome action scenes and many a striking pose. Looks fantastic.
I've seen my share of "bland" samurai movies I must say this isn't like those at all.
epic epicness is epic.
the few custs and scenes you see ooze quality and style, framing is excellent........yes, I must say this gets me much more excited than other samurai movie trailers.
Good, Looking out Zen99, I was sure the last half of this trailer looked crazy familiar, knowing it is a remake helped keep my sanity. (For Now.) Come to think of it I liked all three of the movies in Kudo Eichii's original revolution "trilogy" 13 Assasins, 11 Samurai, The Great Duel.
I admire Miike a lot, but I´m totally with hbhb:
