[UPDATE 2: Blood Disgusting has boldly confirmed that the Godzilla images are "not official." Sorry Godzilla fans but atleast its been fun hearing some of the reaction across the interweb while stirring some interesting discussion on how you think the design should look in the reboot. I personally think the guy who sculpted this bust did an awesome job.]

Back in late March, Legendary Pictures officially announced that Godzilla will return to the big screen in 2012. From a source unknown to me, two images have surfaced of a design model of Godzilla's bust and it has Kaiju fans speculating if its a prototype design that Legendary Pictures submitted to Toho for approval or its just simply a brilliant piece of fan art. If this is official then I think its a good sign that Hollywood are on the right track on nailing the proper appearance. So what do you think? Official or fan art? And whats your opinion on the design?

great detail :) I was told by a good friend in the movie biz. that this was one of the design's they were considering for the new 3D Godzila....! if you have new info on this movie, i would like to post it . thanks :)So the question still remain if these designs were actually used in the production. I'll leave it up to you to decide on whether or not if his words is credible.]

I think it looks pretty darned good, though that doesn't mean that they won't still completely fuck it up. It took me about 7 years to work up the interest to watch the '98 version, I'd like a movie to look forward to this time.
Now thats more like it, that looks more like a Godzilla than that lanky limbed big chinned T-Rex in the 98 Version. I reckon they should go for Cloverfield style advertising for the film, various mobile/security cam/camcorder footage pointing out sightings (obviously have the film different in style). And will be cool if Godzilla got to fight another Monster
On the right track. The face looks a little like Biollante, but they got the design going in a very solid direction.
He's looking a little like a seamonster here which is kinda an interesting approach. I totally agree it'd be really nice to see Godzilla fight a damn monster this time around. Seems like whenever he's in the states all he can do is pretend to be King Kong, a little 'monster on monster action' could really help make this a stand out appearance. I don't him to fight EVERY monster though, we all know how that turns out.
OK people.
No, this absolutely, 100% NOT the design for Godzilla. This was a Godzilla fans creation that has been on his Flicker account since WAY before even the rumors started of this movie.
I told the Undead Backbrain people (Avery) this before so I have no idea why this is appearing on a reputable site such as Twitch.
So it's a fanart after all, but it doesn't surprise me, it looks too good to be the one for the movie, let's remember the 1998 fiasco with their giant iguana.
And never make the mistake of confusing the day a film is announced as being the day the deal is actually done. I was told off the record that the Godzilla deal was 100% done more than six months ago and it had already been complete for a while before then. It's a LOOOONG process getting movies set up in Hollywood.
I say let's go total retro, and bring back the rubber-cookie-monster-with-a-tail look, but that's just me.
