Gaspar Noe's Enter the Void is, without a doubt, the most divisive film of the past year here at Twitch. Kurt absolutely adores it and declared it the film of the year. I find it wildly self indulgent and ripped on it when I saw it in Sitges - a review that actually led to one of my absolute favorite film maker interactions ever, with Noe sending me a message to ask if he'd raped my mother and that's why I hated his film so much.
But as frustrating as I find this film I'll also be first to say that Noe is an enormous talent - one of the reasons I got so frustrated, untalented people never provoke strong reactions - and any film that provokes such sharply divided opinion has got to have something going on.
Audiences in France are about to find out what. The film releases there soon and so there is now a French theatrical trailer. To my eyes this is by far the best of the trailers and clips to release from the film so far, the best both in terms of how its cut together as a distinct entity and in how it presents the content of the film. The most extreme stuff is absent from the trailer but there's enough in there that it'd definitely be a red bander here in North America, so I've dropped it behind the age gate. Check it out below.

Must. See. This. Film.
so wanna see now.
Ah damn, that looks stunning!
I've been following this film for over a year through Cannes and all those short teasers, to the reviews both for and against and now we come to this trailer and hopefully the DVD release sooner rather than later this year.
This man is an enigma. I watched Irreversible twice and the the content is extreme but the second time I watched it with my girlfriend and it was a friggin trip watching another person watch Noé sucking a viewer into his World.
I've just purchased I Stand Alone to get myself excited for this, news on release can't come soon enough.
"untalented people never provoke strong reactions"
To wit, I offer Uwe Boll, Ron Howard, and Brett fucking Ratner.
all kidding aside, Noe does indeed have gobs and gobs of talent. I can't wait to see how he tops this one....it is most likely un-toppable!
Having seen this film twice in the past month and interviewed Ne at length I feel really rather close to this film, even if I don't really like it all that much. I agree with you Todd that this is by far the best trailer around and goes a long way to presenting what the viewing experience is like - but yes, minus all the really out-there moments, and rightly so. I urge everyone to see this, preferably on a very big screen with a very big audience as it is fascinating how much it divides people and how, love it or hate it, it really gets under your skin and stays put!
I'm pretty sure this sucks really badly. Gaspar Noe made the attention-whoring piece of shit Irreversible (which I wouldn't watch even if you paid me to. And no, I don't need to see to know that it's terrible), and juging by the reviews the movie is largely filled with completely gratuitous and pointless sex scenes. I'm not even going to watch this.
